Library Board Meets Thursday

The James Prendergast Library Board of Trustees will meet at 5:15 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, in the library. The public is welcome to attend.

Christmas Show Rehearsals Set

Rehearsals for The Living Christmas Tree begin Thursday, Sept. 20, at 7 p.m. at First Covenant Church, 520 Spring St., Jamestown. Area singers are invited to participate. No auditions required. Performances are the first weekend in December.

Reading Council To Host Event

FREDONIA — The Chautauqua Reading Council, a nonprofit professional organization dedicated to literacy education, is co-sponsoring an event on Thursday, Sept. 20, from 5-7:30 p.m. at the State University of New York at Fredonia. The group is hosting Timothy Rasinski, a professor of literacy education from Kent State University. He will be presenting on Building a Strong Reading Foundation: Phonics, Vocabulary and Fluency. Cost is $7 for for students and council members, and $15 for non-members.

Marvin House To Hold Luncheon

The Marvin House will host its monthly membership luncheon on Thursday, Sept. 20, at noon. The featured speaker will be Tom Benson, life-long resident of Jamestown and chairman of the National Comedy Center. The monthly membership luncheon has returned to the third Thursday of the month.

Ladies Aid Society To Meet Thursday

The Kiantone Congregational Church Ladies Aid Society will meet Thursday, Sept. 20, at the fellowship hall. Fourteen ladies attended the recent meeting. Joanne Adams and Justine Magee were hostesses. Irene Levan opened with a prayer. Loretta Smith shared an article from Pastor Harmon. Karen Swanson gave the secretary’s report and Joan Spontaneo read the treasurer’s report. Marilyn Lewis shared a letter from missonary to Alaska, Amy Miller. The Harvest dinner will be set for Oct. 7. Cindy Hotchkiss closed the meeting in prayer.

Church Sale To

Be Held Friday

The East Randolph Methodist Church, 122 Church St., East Randolph, will host a rummage and bake sale, on Friday, Sept. 21, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 22, from 9 a.m. to noon. The sale will include lots of great items at reasonable prices. All proceeds go to missions church missions.

STW Planning Board To Meet

SALAMANCA — The next meeting of the Southern Tier West Regional Planning and Development Board will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, at the Center for Regional Excellence, 4039 Route 219, Suite 200, Salamanca. It is the group’s annual meeting. Lunch will be served at noon.

Farmers Market To Include Music

FALCONER — On Saturday, Sept. 22, Jamie Haight, solo acoustic artist, will be performing a musical mix for all ages at the Falconer Farmers Market. The Market is located in Davis Park on the corner of West Main and Homestead streets. There will also be fresh, local fruits, vegetables, jams, Maple syrup, honey and locally made craft items for sale. The market’s hours are from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday through the end of October. Jamie Haight will be performing from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
