BPU To Water Test Wednesday

A minor water flow/pump test will take place at 101 Jackson Ave., Celoron, on Wednesday. The Jamestown Board of Public Utilities Water Division advises area residents and businesses to be aware of possibly discolored water. If water is discolored, it should clear within 12 to 24 hours.

Lakewood Gun Club To Meet

LAKEWOOD — The Lakewood Rod and Gun Club Auxiliary board will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Auxiliary members will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10. Old and new members are welcome to attend. Greeters will be Dottie Enlow and Joyce Ecker. Helpers are Sally Hagg and June Walter. Refreshments will be provided by Helen Johnson, Coralyn Boehler and Barbara Williams.

Walk-In Clinic To Screen For STDs

A walk-in clinic for sexual health, sexually transmitted disease screening and birth control sponsored by the Chautauqua County Health and Human Services Department will be held from 3:15 to 5 p.m.in the Chadakoin Building, corner of Third and Washington streets. Those entering should enter on the left side of the building. Clinic services are also provided weekdays by appointment in the department’s office in Mayville. For more information, call 753-4765.

Bridge League Releases Scores

Jamestown Area Bridge League released the Thursday game results for contract bridge. Anne and Tyn Smith finished in first place followed by Pat Fincher and Judy Young. Two teams tied for third, Don and JoJo Lindquist tied with Shellie Dahlie and Lynn Way. Area and out-of-town players are always welcome to play. Thursdays games are at 6:30 p.m. at 35 Fairmount Ave., Lakewood. For more information, call 736-3805.

Busti Historical Society To Meet

BUSTI — The Busti Historical Society will hold its last regular business meeting before the Sept. 30 Apple Festival at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the meeting room of the Museum Building next to the Busti Grist Mill. Work has been progressing on both buildings and grounds in the past month. Interior restoration and an outside drainage project have been under way at the miller house. The wheel chair ramp for the museum has been replaced. Drainage has been corrected for the volunteer parking area and the emergency access road. Small areas of the mill and the pavilion have been repainted.

Rabies Clinic To Be Held Saturday

KENNEDY — The Chautauqua County Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Division of Public Health will hold a rabies clinic from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Poland Highway Garage, 533 Grub Hill Road, Kennedy. The clinic is sponsored by the Town of Poland and Dr. Mary Fales will be the attending veterinarian. Vaccinations will be provided free of charge to all dogs, cats and domesticated ferrets three months of age and older. All pets must be on a leash or in a cage and pet owners should bring rabies vaccination records for each animal that will be receiving a shot to ensure proper and effective vaccination. State Public Health Law requires each dog, cat and domesticated ferret over the age of four months be vaccinated against rabies.
