Thrift Shop Kicks Off Half-Price Sale

St. Luke’s Thrift Shop, 409 Pine St. between East Fourth and East Fifth streets, Jamestown, has all clothing storewide available for half-price, including already reduced items. Hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today and Friday.

PVCS Seeks Board Member

SOUTH DAYTON — Due to a resignation, Pine Valley Central School has a vacancy on their board of education. Information on school board membership is available from Debbie Hooker, district clerk, in the district office at the elementary school. District residents who are interested in filling this position may send a letter of application to: Debbie Hooker, District Clerk, Pine Valley Central School, 7755 Route 83, South Dayton, NY 14138. Deadline for submission of letters of interest is Friday, Sept. 14. Appointment will take place after interviewing all interested persons. The person appointed will serve until the annual vote on May 21, 2019.

Salvation Army

To Host Craft Sale

The Salvation Army is looking for crafters for their craft and gifts sales day which will be held on Nov. 10 in their gym. Twenty-foot space is $20. Tables are available to rent for $5. The money from space and table rent will be used for World Services. The Salvation Army supports many missionaries throughout the world helping them to bring the word of God and love to them as well as giving a much needed hand. Library To Hold Computer Class

The Jamestown Prendergast Library is offering two computer classes in September, “Introduction to Excel” and “Basic Computers.” All computer classes at Prendergast are free of charge. Walk-ins are welcome as space allows, or call to register at 484-7135 ext. 225. “Introduction to Excel” will be held on Friday, Sept. 14, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and “Basic Computers” will be held on Friday, Sept. 28, from 2:30-4:30 p.m. No experience necessary. Prendergast Library is located at 509 Cherry St.

Hockey Game Set For Sept. 7

Community Through Hockey will hold its fourth annual community hockey game at the Northwest Arena at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7. The game will benefit Kody Howard, 9, from Panama, who was diagnosed with a rare stomach cancer in February. Admission is free and will feature a basket giveaway, large item giveaway and 50/50 giveaway. Since 2015, Community Through Hockey has raised more than $12,500 for area families and organizations. Baby Contest To Be Held Sept. 8

SINCLAIRVILLE — The Valley Historical Society and village of Sinclairville will sponsor a beautiful baby contest as part of the annual Sinclairville History Fair held in the village on Saturday, Sept. 8. The contest is open to any child who has not yet reached the age of 2 and will be held in the Sinclairville Fire Hall at 11 a.m. Registration will begin at the conclusion of the parade. There will be winners in several different categories. There is no entry fee and there will be prizes for all entries.
