Frewsburg Vets To Meet Sept. 4

FREWSBURG — The Frewsburg Vietnam Veterans of America, David L. Woodburn Chapter 978, will meet on Tuesday, Sept. 4, at Frewsburg Central School at 7 p.m. Kameron Brooks, an estate attorney, will be speaking on assets and how to protect money and benefits now and in the future. There will be an update on the fall fundraiser and t-shirts will be available for sale. All veterans and their spouses are encouraged to attend.

Senior Council Met In Ashville

More than 90 people recently enjoyed a stuffed chicken breast meal prepared by Sally Hagg. The event for the United Senior Council was held at the Ashville Fire Department. There was a 50/50 drawing and Chinese auction and entertainment by Happy Days. The next Senior Council will be Thursday, Sept. 13, at 10 a.m., hosted by the Celoron West Ellicott Seniors. Location to be determined. Call Theresa at 720-5905 for further information where meeting will be held. All Seniors are invited to attend this informative and fun group.

Author To Speak At Local Library

LAKEWOOD — Off the Beaten Path Bookstore, 28 Chautauqua Ave. Lakewood, will host Deb Pines, author and award-winning New York Post headline writer, from noon-1:30 p.m. Saturday. Pines lives in New York City with her husband Dave but spends time in the summer in Western New York where she teaches in the Chautauqua Institution.

Work Session Meeting Moved

The Southwestern Central School work session scheduled for today has been rescheduled to 7 p.m. Thursday in the board room. The public is welcome to attend.

Pantry Truck To Be In Ashville

ASHVILLE — The Food Bank of Western New York Mobile Pantry Truck from Buffalo will be at the Ashville United Methodist Church on Tuesday. Open hours are 9:30 a.m. to noon and 3-5 p.m. The truck brings fresh produce and some staple items. To receive free food, proof of address from the following ZIP codes is required: Ashville 14710, Bemus Point 14712, Celoron 14720, Lakewood 14750, Niobe 14758, Panama 14767, Stow 14785 and anyone who lives in the town of Busti. Area Chuch To Host Pig Roast

FALCONER — On Sept. 23 there will be a pig roast with fresh corn on the cob at the Our Lady of Loreto Church school basement, 309 W. Everett St. in Falconer. Serving starts at 11 a.m. and goes until 2 p.m. or until all dinners are sold. There will also be activities for children, a basket raffle and a bake sale by our Youth Group.

Annual Car Show Planned Monday

MAPLE SPRINGS — The Der Kobblers Automobile Association will host their annual car show at Midway State Park on Monday. Registration will be from 9 a.m. to noon with a $10 donation. There will be dash plaques, door prizes and a Chinese auction. Proceeds benefit the UPMC Chautauqua Diabetes Education program, Roswell Park and other charities.
