Students Sent To PR For Aid Relief

Gov. Andrew Cuomo today Sunday the fifth and final major deployment of students and volunteers to Puerto Rico as part of the summer-long NY Stands with Puerto Rico Recovery and Rebuilding Initiative. During this summer, New York state mobilized more than 500 SUNY and CUNY student volunteers, as well as more than 120 skilled labor volunteers, to help with recovery and rebuilding efforts. Volunteers will join non-profit organizations to clean, restore and rebuild homes. To date, volunteers have logged in more than 33,000 hours to help homeowners in communities that are still recovering from Hurricanes Irma and Maria.

Project Looking For Area Singers

Rails To Trails Board To Gather

The board of directors of Chautauqua Rails to Trails will hold its annual meeting on Monday, Sept. 10, at 7 p.m. at Webb’s Captains Table in Mayville. Members and other interested trail supporters are welcome to attend. Officers slated for approval are president, Jim Fincher; vice president, Breeanne Agett; treasurer, Elsa Nelson; and secretary, Wendy Lewellen.

New Walkers Are Welcome

FALCONER — The Falconer Senior Walks group welcomes new walkers on Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. at Falconer Village Park Pavilion No. 3. Enjoy a walk through the park or nearby neighborhoods, followed by coffee and snacks. This is a rain or shine event. The Falconer Senior Walks meet every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8:30 a.m. with walks for all ages and abilities, no registration or fee, and new walkers are always welcome. Retired Workers Meet Thursday

WARREN, Pa. — The Barton-Schuler Chapter of the Pennsylvania Association of Retired State Employees will meet for their Annual picnic on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Betts Park on Ludlow Street in Warren, Pa. Members are free, guests are $5. Speakers will be Jim Cheronis and Dora Turner from Anchor Advisors who will provide information on retirement issues. Fun, friends and a drawing will be held. Marvin House To Host Brunch

The Marvin House will host a public brunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday. The menu includes eggs benedict or blueberry short stack pancakes. Brunch also includes a fresh fruit plate and choice of juice and coffee or tea. The cost is $13 per person.
