Stockton-Brocton Road Closing

Stockton-Brocton Road in the town of Stockton, between Bowen and Beech Hill roads, will be closed to traffic due to a cross pipe replacement beginning Wednesday. The road will be closed between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. The same road, between Colt and Beech Hill roads, will also be closed to traffic during the same time.

Alzheimer’s Event Set For Monday

CASSADAGA — The Cassadaga Branch Library, 18 Maple Ave., Cassadaga, will host a program by the Alzheimer’s Association of Western New York titled Effective Communication Strategies at 5 p.m. Monday. The program is ideal for care partners of those living with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementia, as it offers verbal and non-verbal strategies for caregivers to more effectively understand and communicate. The program is free and open to the public. Pre-registration is encouraged by calling the Alzheimer’s Association of Western New York chapter office at 800-272-3900.

Clymer BOE To Meet Monday

CLYMER — The Clymer Central School Board of Education will meet at 7 p.m. Monday in the high school library. The public is welcome to attend.

Breast Cancer Group Gathers

The Breast Cancer Support Group of Jamestown will hold a dinner meeting at Alfies Restaurant in West Ellicott at 6 p.m. Wednesday. The meeting will follow at 7 p.m. and will be a round robin of stories of each member’s journey with breast cancer. The meeting is devoted to former member Frances D’Angelo. New members are welcome to come. No reservation is needed. Pink light bulbs are now available by calling Pat Carr at 665-4343.

Lakewood Library Board To Meet

LAKEWOOD — The Lakewood Memorial Library board will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, in the library. The public is welcome to attend.

United Seniors To Host Dinner

The United Senior Council Dinner Social will be held Wednesday, Aug. 22, at the Ashville Fire Hall on Stow Road in Stow at 3 p.m. The cost is $13 per person and reservations must be made prior to Aug. 12. Live entertainment will be provided by Happy Days. The menu includes stuffed chicken breast with mashed potatoes, green beans, Jello salad and pie. Call Connie at 763-0544 to make reservations. All seniors are welcome to attend.

St. Luke’s To Host Kayak Trip

St Luke’s Episcopal Church will be holding their monthly Kayak Mass on Sunday, Aug. 19. Participants are invited to join the group of paddlers from 4-6 p.m. for a group excursion which will conclude with a service of Communion on the lake. The event is open to anyone, regardless of religious affiliation. Paddlers should bring their own canoes and/or kayaks and life vests. There will also be a limited number of rentals available through Evergreen Outfitters, who will deliver the kayaks and equipment to the launch site. Anyone interested in renting should contact Evergreen in advance at 763-2266. Participants are asked to contact the church office at 483-6405 the Friday before the service for information on the launch site and any changes in plans.
