Driving Course At School Monday

FREWSBURG — A five-hour pre-licensing driving course will be held at Frewsburg High School on Monday from 5-10 p.m. The cost to take the class is $25. Pre-register by calling the guidance office at 569-7026 between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. When calling to sign up for the class, students should have their learner’s permit on hand.

Chicken BBQ To Be Held June 11

The Lakewood Rod and Gun Auxiliary will host its annual chicken barbecue on Monday, June 11, at 6 p.m. Meals will include a Falconer Foods barbecue chicken, potato salad, fruit, dessert and beverage. Pat Cook will impersonate music legend Patsy Cline, prizes will be awarded to members celebrating birthdays and a 50/50 drawing will take place. The cost of the chicken barbecue is $10 per person. Members of the Lakewood Rod and Gun Auxiliary may bring a guest to the annual event. Reservations are due by Monday by calling Connie Whitman at 763-0544.

Cemetery Group Meets Tuesday

CHANDLERS VALLEY, Pa. — The Chandlers Valley Cemetery Association will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Chandlers Valley Community Center. All those having family members there or who own sites are urged to attend.

JPS Board To Gather Tuesday

The Jamestown Public Schools Board of Education will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the board room at 197 Martin Road, Jamestown. The public is welcome to attend.

Antique Study Club Met Recently

The Women’s Antique Study Club met recently at the Lakewood American Legion with 11 ladies and one guest present. Nancy Schuyler brought the meeting to order. Yvonne opened with a prayer. The group said the pledge to the flag and recited the 23rd Psalm together. Schuyler gave the secretary’s report and Joann Robinson gave the treasurer’s report. Schuyler read “Beside Still Waters, A Sunny Smile a Kind Word.” Hostesses were Kay Stahlman and Gale Peterson. The next meeting will be at 1 p.m. June 6. Those attending should bring a dish to pass and their own table service. Jean White will be at the meeting showing some of her elephant collection.

Boater Safety Course Offered

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office will host a boater safety course on Saturday at the Lawson Center, located at 73 Lakeside Drive, Bemus Point, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. There is no pre-registration requirement. Students must be at least 10 years old by the date of the course which is free to anyone ages 10 to 17. Anyone 18 and over will have to pay a $10 fee to New York state to receive certification. A lunch will be provided by the Lawson Center. This will be the last class of the season. Visit sheriff.us for more information.

Outdoor Club To Meet On Sunday

On Sunday, the Allegheny Outdoor Club will ride bikes from Corry, Pa., to Clymer. Participants will meet at Betts Field at 1:30 p.m. For more information call Linda Ross at 814-726-3920.
