TRC To Host Christmas In July

CELORON — The Resource Center will host a Christmas in July shopping event Saturday in its administrative offices at 200 Dunham Ave., Celoron.

The event will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be more than 40 vendors, including Lu La Roe, Pampered Chef, Thirty One, Tastefully Simple and The Cookie Cart. The event will feature a Chinese auction and an appearance by Santa.

Proceeds will benefit the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots drive in Chautauqua County. This will mark the 17th straight year that The Resource Center has coordinated the Toys for Tots drive in Chautauqua County. The Toys for Tots drive each year is able to make the holidays merrier for about 2,400 local children.

There is no admission charge to attend the vendor fair, but donations of new, unwrapped toys are encouraged.

For more information, call Evelyn Wright-Kegelmyer at 661-1429.

Annual 4-H Meat Sale To Take Place

DUNKIRK — Chautauqua County 4-H Youth Development will hold the 53rd annual Meat Animal Sale at the Warren K. Brown Show Arena on the grounds of the Chautauqua County Fair at noon Friday.

4-H members across the county have been working hard since October to raise top-quality animals for the sale. This year 30 steers, 15 market goats, 15 pairs of market chickens, 40 lambs and 75 hogs will be available for purchase.

Market animal projects offer youth a unique experience to learn animal husbandry, feed and nutrition, cuts of meat, how to train an animal to lead and current industry standards for their species. Not all of the work is in the barn, however. Youth keep accurate medical, nutrition and financial records for every animal project. They are also encouraged to market that animal to people in the community so that they are sure to get the best price for that animal come sale day.

CCB Hosting Candle Fundraiser

LITTLE VALLEY — The America’s Promise Team at Cattaraugus County Bank is holding its second annual Yankee Candle fundraiser.

The fundraiser continues until Dec. 29. Interested people can order online by using a specially assigned fundraising group number when ordering at yankeecandlefundraising.com. Cattaraugus County Bank’s team will receive credit toward its goal. Group number is 990104658.

The sale is intended to raise money to help children in areas the independently owned bank serves. “America’s Promise” members help to ensure that children receive five resources they need:

¯ An ongoing relationship with a caring adult-mentor;

¯ Access to safe places & structured activities during non-school hours;

¯ A healthy start;

¯ A marketable skill through effective education; and

¯ An opportunity to give back through community service.

“This fundraiser was quite successful in 2016, so the AP Team decided ‘Why not try this again?'” said Ashley Murray, chair of Cattaraugus County Bank’s America’s Promise Team. “Who doesn’t love Yankee Candles? We are encouraging folks to order for their self, and contact out of town friends and family to order as well. The children need our help!”
