‘Dunkirk’ To Be Premiered Today

The movie “Dunkirk” is premiering at the Movie Plex 59 today at 4:30 p.m. and the theater will be honoring veterans with free popcorn and beverages for the showing. At 4 p.m. the Color Guard will be at the movie theater, located at 10520 Bennett Road, Dunkirk, to greet those in attendance. Introducing the movie and welcoming veterans and visitors will be Dunkirk Mayor Willie Rosas. Diane Andrasik, Dunkirk city historian, will elaborate on the connection that the region shares with Dunkirk, France. “Dunkirk” addresses a historical and heroic event in World Warr II. In May 1940, Germany advanced into France, trapping Allied troops on the beaches of Dunkirk. Under air and ground cover from British and French forces, troops were evacuated from the beach using every serviceable naval and civilian vessel that could be found.

Sewer Board To Meet Wednesday

MAYVILLE — The North Chautauqua Lake Sewer Board of Directors will meet at 4 p.m. Wednesday in the town of Chautauqua meeting room at 2 Academy St. in Mayville. The board will discuss its 2018 tentative budget and review the bid for the phosphorus upgrade project. The public is welcome to attend.

CVCS Class Met For 65th Reunion 

Cassadaga Valley Central School Class of 1955 recently met for their 65th reunion at Alfie’s Restaurant on July 15. The class has met every five years until their 50th, and since then have met every year. Class President Ray Bulger sends notices each year to class members and keeps track of everyone. Classmates hope to continue to meet every year.

Free Seminar Is Planned Tuesday

Chautauqua Physical & Occupational Therapy has announced its next free seminar: Solutions for Balance and Vertigo is scheduled for Tuesday from 6-7 p.m. at Chautauqua Physical & Occupational Therapy, Riverwalk Center, 15 S. Main St. Suite 220, in Jamestown. Dr. Susan E. Bennett, PT, DPT, Ed.D, NCS, MSCS is presenting material on a variety of options to address your balance and vertigo. Physical therapists Dr. Christopher Saxton, PT, DPT and Dr. Jamie Mangini, PT, DPT present on the benefits of physical therapy.

Summer Library Hours Scheduled

The Cherry Creek Library announced its summer library hours. The library is open each Monday from 1-3 p.m. and includes a summer reading program; Tuesdays, 3-5 p.m.; Wednesdays, 3:30-5:30 p.m.; Thursdays, 1-5 p.m. and includes a summer reading program; Fridays, 3-5 p.m. and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to noon and features a story hour and movies. The movie “Finding Nemo” will be shown from 10:15-11:45 a.m. on Saturday and a story hour will be held July 29 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Wi-Fi and computers are available. Library To Host Presentation

Chautauqua Opportunities Inc. Alzheimer’s Services is having a presentation on Communication and Dementia at the James Prendergast Library, 509 Cherry St., Jamestown, from 6-7 p.m. Monday in the library’s Fireplace Room.
