Picnic To Held In Betts Pavilion

WARREN, Pa. — Are you a transplant recipient, on the waiting list, lost a loved one prior to or following transplant, or are a donor family? Please join us, bring your loved ones and make valuable contacts within the local transplant community. A picnic meeting is being held on Tuesday in the Betts Pavilion at Betts Field in Warren, Pa. Meats will be provided for grilling; bring your own drinks, table settings and a dish to pass. The event begins at 5 p.m.. Please let Debbie know if you plan to attend: sumner@atlanticbb.net.

Westfield Seniors Meet Thursday

Westfield Senior Citizens will meet for their annual hot dog picnic on Thursday at 6 p.m. in the Westfield YWCA. Members should take a dish to pass and their table service. Hot dogs will be provided by the club. If not taking a dish, a donation of $5 is asked. Dottie Rexford will provide entertainment. Joyce Wainwright, Carol Reynolds and Geri Harper are the committee. Pat Sciarrino, president, opened a recent supper meeting with prayer, a short reading remembering Memorial Day, the flag salute and song. Famous presidential saying were read by several members. Minutes and the treasurer’s reports were approved as read.

Historical Society Open Saturday

FREWSBURG — The Carroll Historical Society will be open Saturday from 2-4 p.m. The public is invited to visit displays and meet members. The society is located in the building behind the Carroll Town Hall, Main St., Frewsburg.

‘Ben Hur’ To Be Shown At Church

BEMUS POINT — Christ Church LCMC, 3012 Route 430, Bemus Point, will screen the movie “Ben Hur” at 7 p.m. Tuesday Hot dogs, popcorn and beverage are provided. There is no charge to attend.

VVA Chapter Meeting Tuesday

FREWSBURG — The David L. Woodburn Chapter 978, VVA Chapter Meeting will be held at the Frewsburg American Legion on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Greg Carlson, Chautauqua County veterans service officer, will be speaking on claims by Iraq/Afghanistan veterans and other veterans who require assistance. Bob Lewis, president of the chapter, will also be reporting on information he obtained at the recent state council meeting in Owego. All veterans are invited to attend. Red Cross Blood Drive Is Thursday

The Jamestown Board of Public Utilities will host a Red Cross blood drive from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday in the BPU Education and Training Rooms, 92 Steele St., Jamestown. Donors may access the BPU blood drive by entering the “D” driveway at 92 Steele St. to reach the BPU parking lot. Facing the building from the parking lot, one should enter the Visitor Entrance (the right door under the green awning) beside the BPU Customer Service Department, sign in at the window and take the elevator to the first floor. Donors will need picture identification such as a blood donor card or driver’s license. Donors must be in good health and at least 17 years of age. Lunch will be provided free-of-charge to blood donors. Walk-ins are welcome. To arrange an advance appointment, call Becky Robbins, BPU communications coordinator, at 661-1680.
