Police: Man charged with killing woman he beat twice in May
DEWITT, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say they’ve charged a man with fatally stabbing a woman outside a suburban Syracuse motel where he was staying after she bailed him out of jail.
The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday identified the victim as 61-year-old Rena Tindell, of Syracuse, and said they charged 58-year-old Keith Lobdell with second-degree murder.
Sheriff Eugene Conway says Tindell and Lobdell knew each other for years. He says Lobdell was arrested twice in May for attacking Tindell. Conway says she was sexually assaulted during the first attack and choked with a seatbelt and hit in the head with a baseball bat during the second assault.
Conway says he was released from jail Nov. 3 after Tindell posted his $200,000 bail.
Lobdell is jailed without bail. It couldn’t be learned from authorities if he has a lawyer.
