Fredonia Edges Southwestern In Division 1 West

LAKEWOOD — Fredonia (3-2, 3-0) was a 4-2 winner over Southwestern (4-3, 2-3) in a Division 1 West baseball game at Packard Field on Wednesday.

The Trojans fell victim to a three-run error in the fourth inning that spoiled a two-hit, 11-strikeout performance by Mitchell Pascarella.

Anthony Gullo tossed a complete-game win for Fredonia, striking out a pair of batters. Alec Schrader had a single and Trey Swartz a double.

Pascarella had a double, and Aidan Kennedy and Evan Bishop both had an RBI single for the Trojans.

BEARS PREVAIL

NORTH COLLINS — Frewsburg scored five runs in the third inning to pull away from North Collins en route to a 10-4 Division 2 East victory.

Jack Yost opened the third with a single before scoring on Aaron Hair’s RBI double. Nick Marsh followed with a walk before Nolan Brink reached on an error that scored Hair. With two outs, the runners moved up on a wild pitch before Traden Gray connected for a two-run single and Kaleb Bender scored on a wild pitch.

Gray finished with two hits and three RBIs while Yost and Caleb Carr also had two hits for the Bears (2-3, 1-1). Hair, Yost and Jason Dustin had doubles.

Hair also picked up the win on the mound, throwing 5 2/3 innings, allowing four hits and striking out 11 while walking just one.

David Gullo had three hits and two runs scored while Christian Loretto had two hits, including a double for the Eagles (0-3, 0-1).

PANTHERS TRIM EAGLES

FRANKLINVILLE — Host Franklinville moved to 4-0 on the year and 2-0 against Division 2 East opponents with a 12-2 win over Ellicottville (1-4, 0-1).

Logan Frank pitched his way through three innings and two outs of the fourth, collecting six strikeouts and four walks for the winners before Ben Mooney finished off the last batter of the day with a strikeout.

Mooney also added a single and a double for an RBI; Jake Peters cracked a two-RBI single; Matt Peters had a three-RBI single and Nolan Palmatier a two-run single for the Panthers.

Kalib Pierce led Ellicottville with three singles.

CARDS WIN AGAIN

RANDOLPH — Randolph moved to 4-1 overall and 3-0 against league opponents, sneaking out a 3-2 win over Pine Valley (0-2, 0-2) in Division 2 East action.

The Cardinals capitalized on a throwing error in the first, plating a pair of runs. Tommy Chapman fanned 11 batters, gave up five hits and no walks while Jacob Bulich went 2 for 3 and Mason Paget cracked a double.

Corey Ellis fanned five and walked three on the hill for the Panthers, who had Dylan Branch lead the offense with a pair of singles.

COUGARS FALL TO KNIGHTS

SINCLAIRVILLE — Silver Creek (4-1, 3-1) was a 7-4 winner over Cassadaga Valley in Division 1 West action.

Andre Rosario got the win on the hill, striking out five and walking one in six innings of work for the Knights.

Chris VanCheri smacked two hits and Ethan Brunner added a double in the win, with Brunner also closing things out in relief.

Connor Crabtree threw 5 2/3 innings of two-hit ball, with eight strikeouts and five walks before being relieved to pitch count. Nick Russo finished things off on the hill for the Cougars.

Crabtree helped his own cause with three singles in four at-bats and stole two bases.

FALCONS FALL TO DUNKIRK

DUNKIRK — After getting behind early, the Dunkirk Marauders (1-1, 2-1) battled back for a walk-off, 5-4 win, over Falconer (3-1, 3-1) in a Division 1 West action.

Alex Ahlstrom’s double plated Phil Messina with the game winner in support of Peyton Ahlstrom, who struck out 11 and Jared Glowniak, who fanned three.

Bobby Samuelson went 4-for-4 for the Golden Falcons, hitting a double then scoring a run; Ben Schrader added an RBI single, and Jacob Payne hit an RBI double to put up Falconer, 4-0 after a half inning.

Ahlstrom belted a three-run home run in the third inning to tie it, 4-4.
