San Diego weathered the storm.

Literally.

Sparked by five players in double figures, including 24 from Bernard Edwards, the Wave held off a late charge to down Jamestown, 120-114, in action from The Basketball League on a cold, wintery Sunday afternoon.

Those who turned out at the Physical Education Complex on the campus of Jamestown Community College saw Edwards joined in twin digits by Ivan Dooley (23), Henry French (21), Gregoryshon Magee (20) and Montigo Alford (19).

All told, San Diego shot 60 percent from the field (38 of 63), including 8 of 19 from the arc, built a 63-45 lead at intermission and withstood a Jackals’ second-half rally.

Jamestown, which was coming off a victory on Friday night in New York, shot 44 percent (38 of 86) from the floor, including only 3 of 17 from the arc. Glenroy Carr Jr. led the way for the Jackals (2-2) with a game-high 26 points, including 12 of 12 from the foul line, and he grabbed eight rebounds.

James Helton added 25 points, nine boards and four assists; Michael Davenport had 16 points, DaVonte Harris had 12 and Troy Taylor added 10.

The Jackals return to action next weekend with a trip to the West Coast. On Friday, they’ll play at Yakima, Washington; on Saturday they’ll take on San Diego; and on Sunday they’ll meet Mesquite, Nevada. Jamestown’s next home game will be Feb. 9 against New York.
