ST. BONAVENTURE — Saint Louis freshmen Brooke Flowers and Ciaja Harbison combined for 29 points to power the Billikens attack in a 62-45 decision over the St. Bonaventure women’s basketball team Sunday afternoon at the Reilly Center.

Bonaventure had two strong performances from freshmen as well — Deja Francis paced the Bonnies with 17 points while Asianae Johnson finished with 11.

St. Bonaventure claimed a 9-8 lead four minutes into the game, but Saint Louis would soon seize control.

The Billikens embarked on an 11-0 break for a 20-9 lead with 2:29 remaining in the quarter. Another 7-2 run to begin the second quarter left the visitors with a 34-16 cushion with six minutes left before halftime.

Bona held Saint Louis without a point over the final 6:02 of the half, though, and used an 11-0 run of its own to get back in the ballgame as the teams headed to half with a 34-25 score.

Momentum swung back in favor of the Billikens, though, as the second half began.

Evan Zars put home a layup to begin the scoring in the quarter, and after a Dajah Logan made free throw, Ciaja Harbison connected on a pair at the line before hitting a jumper to stretch the lead to 40-26.

Francis helped the Bonnies get back within single digits at 42-34 following a pair of free throws with 3:40 left in the third, but back-to-back scores from the Billikens stretched the lead back to 12.

The Bonnies committed only nine turnovers, but were plagued by cold shooting. St. Bonaventure was held to 30 percent shooting for the game (17-57) while Saint Louis shot 46 percent (26-56).

Flowers led the way for the Billikens with 17 points and 12 rebounds along with four blocks. Harbison followed with 12 points and five assists.

St. Bonaventure is back in action Saturday, heading to UMass for a 2 p.m. start on Jan. 26.
