Chautauqua Lake Rowing is holding an information meeting for the 2019 high school club rowing team.

The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 7 at First Lutheran Church, which is located on Chandler and Center streets in Jamestown.

The CLR provides a fun and competitive environment in rowing for boys and girls in grades 8-12. Athletes as young as seventh grade may be eligible and are handled on an individual basis. No experience is necessary. Rowing is also great for cross training and one of the best team-oriented sports.

Both boy and girl athletes who are prospective team members, along with their parents/guardians, will find this meeting informative. Students from all area schools are welcome to attend. Returning team members and parents are also expected to be in attendance to learn about new team plans.

Team head coaches will review the overall program and specifics for the spring season. Registration is scheduled for Feb. 25 at the Bethel Baptist Church gymnasium. The rowing team starts indoor practices Feb. 26, also at Bethel Baptist, with the season concluding May 30. Team participants will learn the basics of rowing technique and compete in regional races in Erie, Buffalo, Rochester, and Ithaca. Races also take place in Saratoga Springs for the New York state championships.

For more information on the high school team, see the team’s website at www.rowchautauqua.org.
