Power Play Comes Up Empty For Rebels In Loss

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. — The Jamestown Rebels couldn’t capitalize on four power-play opportunities in a 4-2 loss to the Johnstown Tomahawks in North American Hockey League action Saturday at 1st Summit Arena at the Cambria County War Memorial.

Johnstown opened the scoring in the first period before taking control of the game with a three-goal second period.

Carson Briere gave the Tomahawks a 1-0 lead with his fifth goal of the season from Hunter Toale and Samuel Solensky at 12:35 of the first period on the power play.

The Rebels tied the game 2:23 into the second period when Konur Peterson scored his third goal of the season from Sam Anzai.

Johnstown scored the next three goals. Mitchell Hale scored his fourth of the season from Chris Trouba and Pavel Kharin; Solensky scored his fourth of the season from Ethan Webb and Oliver Benwell; and Andy Nedejkovic tallied his second of the season from Christian Gorscak and Trouba.

Jake Felker pulled Jamestown within a pair at 10:48 of the second period when he scored his third of the season from Alex Roy and Antonio Venutto.

Ryan Keane made 26 saves in net for the Rebels while Kade Phipps turned aside 24 shots for the Tomahawks.

Jamestown opens the home portion of its schedule Friday and Saturday at 7:05 p.m. against the New Jersey Titans at Northwest Arena.
