Rebels Win Opener At NAHL Showcase
BLAINE, Minn. — The Jamestown Rebels began their inaugural season on the right foot Wednesday evening, holding on to an early lead and claiming a 3-2 win over Chippewa at the North American Hockey League Showcase.
Jake Felker grabbed a pair of goals as the Rebels found the net three times in under two minutes during a red-hot stretch of the opening 20 minutes.
Joe McGrath would add the middle tally on assists from Alex Johnson and Brendan Westbrook, while Felker would take advantage of assists from Alex Roy and Nate Clark on his first goal. Jim Glynn and Quinn Martin grabbed helpers on the third and final goal.
Chippewa would respond with a tallies at 2:21 and 15:43 in the third, but Jamestown goaltender Ryan Keane Stood tall, stopping 29 shots on the night.
The Rebels were not able to convert on three power-play opportunities, while the penalty killing unit relinquished one goal in five opportunities by the Steel.
Jamestown will play its second game of the Showcase today against the Minot Minotauros at 1 p.m.
