JCC Volleyball Team Is 5-0

BATAVIA — The Jamestown Community College volleyball team was the model of consistency Tuesday as it swept Genesee CC, 25-17, 25-17, 25-17, in a Western New York Athletic Conference match.

Kendyl Austin led the way for the Jayhawks (5-0) with six aces, seven kills, 14 digs and one block; Jenna Caskey collected three aces, 12 kills, 11 digs and one block; Sierra Wells added one ace, 21 assists, three kills and six digs; Maddy Russo chipped in one ace and 15 digs; and Emma Wirsen had seven digs.

“We were down 10-16 (in the first game),” said Jamestown CC coach Ashley Lund. “I called a timeout and asked for a different team to come out and play, and they did that. We only allowed one point (the rest of the game). It was nice to see that we could completely shut out an opponent and come back and win the game.”

The Jayhawks return to action Thursday at Mercyhurst North East.
