JCC Has A Good Day
HERKIMER — “We just had a really good day today.”
That was the comment of Jamestown Community College volleyball coach Ashley Lund on Sunday after the Jayhawks won all three of their matches in the Herkimer POD.
The victories improved their record to 4-0 on the season, continuing a dominance of NJCAA Region 3 Division III opponents that extends back to the 2017 season.
The Jayhawks opened with a 25-13, 25-11, 25-17 victory over Herkimer CC. Kendyl Austin had two aces, 13 kills and six digs; Jenna Caskey added four aces, 10 kills, 12 digs and three blocks; Sierra Wells collected three aces, 35 assists, one kill and eight digs; and Maddy Russo added three aces, eight kills, two digs and three assists.
In Jamestown CC’s 25-19, 25-19, 25-17 win over Fulton-Montgomery CC, Wells had four aces, 23 assists, two kills and 10 digs; Caskey had two aces, nine kills and four digs; Austin added one ace, eight kills, six digs and one block; Russo chipped in five aces and three digs; and Savannah Damon contributed eight kills.
Finally, in a victory over Mohawk Valley CC, Austin had six kills, three digs and one block; Wells had three aces, 16 assists, two kills and six digs; Caskey had three aces, two kills and two blocks; and Damon collected two aces, four kills, two digs and two blocks.
Jamestown CC returns to action Tuesday when it travels to Genesee CC.
