Jayhawks Suffer Soccer Loss
ERIE — Jamestown Community College men’s soccer is now 1-2-1 overall after dropping a non-league game against Mercyhurst on Tuesday afternoon.
The Saints claimed the 3-1 lead after taking advantage of two first-half defensive breakdowns by the Jayhawks.
“They picked up one on a corner kick to a head ball and then another goal on a shot from about 22 yards out,” head coach Pat Anderson said of the first half. “Then less than a minute into the second half, they just had a very nicely-placed shot from about 30 yards out. I think that we didn’t play with the kind of energy and intensity that we’ve been playing with. We didn’t play our best game today.”
With 17 minutes to go Jamestown CC would earn its lone tally, when Nick Brown was credited with a goal after forcing the Mercyhurst defense to deflect the ball past its own goaltender.
Nick Mole made four saves in the loss.
The Jayhawks will now welcome Cayuga CC on Friday at 4 p.m.
