Cummins Claims ‘Battle’ Volleyball

Cummins won the large division volleyball tournament at the Jamestown YMCA in Y Battle action Tuesday evening.

The team of Ryan Gerbec, Conni Krysiak, Gautham Penumala, Karey Lawton, Tracy Tellinghuisen and Jimmy Johnson dominated the courts from the start. The squad finished the night by beating Frewsburg Central School in a best-of-three match series wins (15-11, 12-15, 15-8).

Chautauqua County Government went home with third-place honors.

The results of the Escape Rooms Jamestown event will be announced in Friday’s Post-Journal.

While Frewsburg Central School and Jamestown Mattress top the two divisions, Falconer Central Schools and Matco Tools follow closely in second place in the large and small categories respectively.

The YMCA Battle continues today with the 800 medley relay at 6 p.m. and the predicted mile walk at 6:30 p.m. for both divisions at the Falconer Central School track. The small division pool tournament at The Chadakoin Club at 104 W. Second St.in Jamestown will also take place, starting at 6 p.m., while Jamestown Escape Rooms will entertain Frewsburg Central School, Falconer Central Schools, Jamestown BPU, Jamestown Up Close and Genie Retail Energy.
