Second JAMFL Sign-Up Is Saturday At Jock Shop
Jamestown Area Midget Football will be holding its second of three sign-ups Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Jock Shop on Harrison Street.
Any child born between Dec. 1, 2003 and July 31, 2010 can sign up to play or cheer. The final sign-up time will be next Wednesday, July 18 from 4-6 p.m. at the Jock Shop. Any one signing up after that time will be charged a $25 late fee.
The fee this year will be $65 for a single player and $95 for a family living at the same address. There will be a $5 discount if paid by cash or check. Practice will start on July 30 and the first games will be Aug. 28.
The purpose of JAMFL is to implant in the boys and girls of the community the ideas of good sportsmanship, honesty, loyalty, accountability, respect, manners and reverence, so they may be finer, stronger, and happier boys and girls. This will guide them in becoming good, clean and healthy citizens. This will be achieved by providing supervised competitive games. The supervisor shall bear in mind that the attainment of exceptional skill and winning the game is secondary.
Sign-ups for the Jim McCusker Flag Football League will also be held at the time. This league is for boys and girls who are 6 or 7 years old. The fee is $25. Flag football is also looking for volunteer coaches for this season.
