Rhodes, Mansfield Lead Randolph Past Ellicottville

RANDOLPH — Savannah Rhodes hit a two-run double in a three-run sixth inning as Randolph pulled away from Ellicottville for a 7-1 non-league softball win.

Rhodes finished with two hits, including the double, while winning pitcher Abby Mansfield also had two hits for the Cardinals (7-11).

Mansfield struck out eight, walked one and allowed five hits in the circle.

Nikki Lockwood reached on an error and went first to third on BobbiAn Burdick’s sacrifice bunt to jump-start the three-run sixth. Lockwood then scored on Kayle Marsh’s grounder. Raven Waterhouse followed with a walk and Mansfield singled in front of Rhodes’ two-run double.

Evie Cortez had two hits to lead the Eagles (4-10).

BEARS RALLY FOR WIN

FREWSBURG — Ashley Carlson’s two-run single in the bottom of the sixth inning helped Riley Chitester pick up her first varsity win in the circle as Frewsburg rallied for a 9-6 non-league win over Maple Grove.

The Bears (5-9) trailed 6-3 in the bottom of the fifth inning before Reagan Chitester’s two-run single made it 6-5. Peyton Yost and Elise Sposato reached in the bottom of the sixth before Carlson’s game-changing hit.

Riley Chitester threw the final two innings, striking out two while allowing two hits and no runs. MaKena Adams threw the first five innings, striking out eight while allowing five hits and six runs (two earned).

Yost, Kiah Johnson, Carlson, Reagan Chitester and Sposato each had two hits in the win.

Maple Grove (5-9) scored the first run of the game in the second inning and took a 2-1 lead in the third inning on Taylor Samuelson’s solo home run. The Red Dragons tied the game at 3-3 in the fourth inning before taking a 6-3 lead in the top of the fifth inning. No. 9 hitter Tessa Warner led off with a triple and scored on Sarah Berg’s fielder’s choice. Berg moved up on a sacrifice and scored on Meghann Nolan’s RBI single. Nolan then scored the third run on an error.

Alissa Weaver and Lynne Nordin combined to strike out seven in the circle for Maple Grove.

PANAMA

USES BIG INNING

PANAMA — Five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning propelled Panama to a 10-7 non-league win over Pine Valley as Ashlyn Harvey picked up a complete-game win with six strikeouts while allowing four walks and six hits in the circle.

Abi Lisciandro had three hits for three RBIs including a triple, Maci Johnson added three singles, Natalie Angeletti had two singles and Elle Angeletti cracked an RBI double for Panama (7-5).

Kaylee Crisanti struck out two in three innings of work for Pine Valley (2-12) while Kayla Cole added two singles as did Malori Waag.
