BASEBALL, TRENT GRAY, FREWSBURG. Trent Gray went 7 for 12 with three doubles and also won a game on the mound as Frewsburg went 4-0 last week. On Monday, Gray went 3 for 4 with three RBIs, three runs scored and a double while throwing three one-hit innings with three strikeouts in a 19-4 five-inning win over Cattaraugus-Little Valley. Gray went 1 for 3 with two RBIs in a 14-2 five-inning win over Ellicottville on Wednesday and 1 for 2 with a triple in a 2-0 win over Randolph on Thursday. On Friday, Gray was 2 for 4 with two doubles and two RBIs in a 7-1 victory over Franklinville.
SOFTBALL, CAMERYN HAWKINS, CHAUTAUQUA LAKE. Cameryn Hawkins hit the game-winning two-run home run in the top of the seventh inning Friday as Chautauqua Lake clinched the CCAA Division 1 West title with a 7-6 win over Fredonia. Hawkins also singled in the game. She also had two doubles and an RBI in a win over Dunkirk on Monday and a single in a win over Southwestern on Tuesday.
BOYS TRACK AND FIELD, ISSIAH VELEZ, DUNKIRK. Issiah Velez was named Most Outstanding Athlete at the Joe Paterniti Memorial Track & Field Classic on Friday at Strider Field. Velez won the 100 meters (11.42) and long jump (20-6) while also anchoring the winning 400-meter relay team (45.36) for the Marauders. On Tuesday, Velez won the 100 meters (11.2) and long jump (19-2) in a loss to Fredonia.
GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD, KYLIE SCHNARS, CLYMER/SHERMAN/PANAMA. Kylie Schnars reached the NYSPHSAA pentathlon standard with a second-place finish of 2,678 points at the Depew Pentathlon-Steeplechase Invite on Thursday. Schnars was first in the 800 meters (2:37.77), second in the 100-meter hurdles (16.27), high jump (4-9.5) and long jump (14-8), and third in the shot put (25-7¢). Schnars also won the 100-meter hurdles (16.2) and was a member of the winning 400-meter relay team (53.3) in a victory over Frewsburg on Tuesday.
GOLF, BRANSON MORRISON, RANDOLPH. Branson Morrison fired a medalist round of 42 as Randolph beat Franklinville, 35.5-19.5, and Salamanca, 32.5-22.5, at Ischua Valley Country Club on Thursday. On Wednesday, Morrison led the Cardinals with a 39 at Cardinal Hills Golf Course as they lost to Jamestown, 30.5-24.4, and beat Olean, 29-26.
