Cotter, Allen Double For Southwestern Girls

Southwestern remained undefeated in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 girls track & field action with a 93-48 win over Fredonia on Tuesday, taking 13 of 18 possible scoring positions in the field events.

Aubin Cotter had wins in the long jump (14-6 1/2) and triple jump (29-11) for the winners while Cassidy Allen took the pole vault (7-0) and 100 meters (13.1).

Emily Brown of Fredonia took the 1,500 meters in 5:13 and the 3,000 meters in 12:06.

CLYMER — Kylee Odell captured three events for Clymer/Sherman/Panama during a 110-30 win over Cattaraugus-Little Valley in a Division 3 meet.

Odell won the 1,500 meters (5:12.3), 800 meters (2:40.8) and long jump (13-8 1/2) for the Wolfpack. Trisha Walker took the shot put (28-8.1/4) and discus (76-11) and MacKenzie Gratto captured the 400 meters (1:13.3) and 200 meters (29.2).

DECKER DOUBLE

SILVER CREEK–Silver Creek/Forestville improved to 2-0 on the year with a narrow 66-62 Division 2 win over Randolph on Tuesday afternoon, as Kylie Procknal took home the 100 meters in 13.3 and the 400 meters in 1:08.8

“Kylie continues to show her strength and confidence on the track by going out to compete with the best of what the county has to offer. There’s one thing about Kylie that the coaches often admire — her sportsmanship. Whether she wins or loses, she walks off with a smile. She truly respects the other athletes and allows for credit to be given to those who earn it,” Silver Creek/Forestville coach Amy Seiders said.

Ellie Decker was also a double winner for the hosts, taking home the 1,500 meters (5:31) and the 3,000 meters (11:50.8)

“Ellie has the same great competitive desire and comes with a whole lot of energy. Just talking to her excites and motivates the athletes around her. It is a pleasure to work with such a young, talented group of athletes who are so coachable,” Seiders said.

Kara Leeper took home the discus with a throw of 80 feet, 6 inches and won the shot put with a toss of 30 feet, 10 inches for Randolph.

Lancaster was able to improve to 1-1 on the season thanks to a 78.5-63.5 Erie County Interscholastic Conference Division 1 win over Jamestown at Strider Field.

Chelsey Scott took home the 100-meter hurdles in 17.48 for Jamestown and the 400-meter hurdles in 1:14.7

Amanda Konieczny won the 200 meters in 27.29 and the long jump with a distance of 16 feet, 9 inches for Lancaster while Natalia Sudrej took the shot put (36-0) and the discus (93-11 1/2).

FALCONER — Samantha Gilbert took home the 100-meter hurdles in 18.6 seconds, 400-meter hurdles in 1:15.0 and the 200 meters in 27.4 while also winning the triple jump with a distance of 32 feet to help Falconer/Cassadaga Valley pick up a 125-15 Division 1 win over Gowanda (0-2) on Tuesday.

Jassie Morrison won the shot put (30-7) and the discus (75-7) for the Golden Cougars and Mikaela LeBaron was victorious in the 1,500 meters (5:52) and 3,000 meters (13:30).

DRAGONS HAVE FOUR DOUBLE WINNERS

A quartet of double winners lifted host Maple Grove to a dominant 113-18 Division 3 win over Westfield.

Alyssa Steen took the discus (80-3) and shot put (29-7) while Chloe Kibbe won the 100 meters in 13.1 and the 200 meters 27.6.

Also winning a pair of events for the Red Dragons were Elsa Gruber with the 100-meter hurdles (19.1) and the 400-meter hurdles (1:24.2) as well as Marisa Schuppenhauer who took the long jump (14-7) and the triple jump (31-4).
