LEWISBURG, Pa. — A pair of Maple Grove High School graduates posted NCAA provisional times in their respective events at the Bucknell Bison Invitational on Saturday.
Representing Edinboro University, Corey Wefing, a junior from Maple Springs, and Hope Pietrocarlo, a redshirt freshman from Bemus Point, recorded fine efforts in the 1,500 meters and the 5,000 meters respectively.
Wefing placed ninth in the 1,500 with a time of 3:47.27, which was less than five seconds off the leader, Justyn Knight of Syracuse, who was clocked in 3:42.71. Wefing’s time was also the eighth-fastest among NCAA Division II runners this year and the fastest among Division II runners in yesterday’s event.
Pietrocarlo, meanwhile, turned in a time of 17:05.79 in the 5,000, which was good for a 14th-place finish. Her time also marks the 14th-fastest Division II time this year.
