Adams, Mobley Shine At Portsmouth Invitational

PORTSMOUTH, Va. — St. Bonaventure seniors Jaylen Adams and Matt Mobley both impressed during last week’s Portsmouth Invitational Tournament.

The two Bonnies were invited to take part in the 66th annual edition of the prestigious event reserved for college seniors. The tournament is designed for the top seniors nationwide to display their talents for NBA and other professional scouts. Each year, 64 players are invited to take part in the four-day, 12-team tournament. A year ago, six players from the Portsmouth Invitational were selected in the NBA Draft.

For the tournament, Adams averaged 14.0 points, 4.7 assists and 4.3 rebounds while Mobley totaled 11.7 points and 6.0 rebounds. Mobley’s team finished the week 2-1 while Adams’ team went 1-2.

Adams and Mobley were on separate teams during the tournament and actually played against each other in their opening game last Thursday. In that game, Adams made a run at a triple-double as he finished with 14 points, eight assists and seven rebounds while Mobley drained four 3-pointers and registered 16 points. Mobley finished his play with a double-double of 14 points and 12 rebounds in his team’s finale on Saturday.
