SANBORN — Katelyn Bennett poured in 20 points and Allie Stockwell and Morgan Brightman added 11 apiece to lead No. 5 Jamestown to a 48-39 victory over Niagara Wheatfield in a Section VI Class AA basketball quarterfinal on Tuesday night.

The win advances the Lady Red Raiders into the semifinals at 7:30 p.m. Friday against No. 1 Orchard Park at Kenmore West High School.

“We kind of knew we were going to face them in the semifinals,” Jamestown coach Tim Anderson said. “They probably have the best inside-outside combination in the entire (ECIC Division 1). They took it to us the last game (of the regular season), but even though we have a quick turnaround, we’ve been working on some things and I have confidence that we can beat anyone in this league and we’re excited with this challenge.”

The Lady Red Raiders trailed last night by six or seven points in the third quarter, but they finished the period on a 10-2 run, highlighted by a pair of Bennett treys to take the lead, 29-28.

Armed with the lead and momentum, Jamestown outscored Niagara Wheatfield, 19-11, in the fourth quarter, highlighted by strong efforts at the foul line by Olivia Gates, Stockwell and Bennett down the stretch.

Brightman finished with 12 rebounds, Stockwell had nine and Bennett added six for the Lady Red Raiders. Macey Lundmark chipped in with six boards and five assists.

Brianna Zayatz paced Niagara Wheatfield with 13 points, and LaGary -Jackson added 10.
