Conlan’s Double-Double Paces Bears

SINCLAIRVILLE — Quinn Conlan scored 16 of his game-high 22 points in the second half as Frewsburg pulled away from Cassadaga Valley for a 60-40 CCAA Division 2 West victory.

The Bears led by four at halftime, and the Cougars actually cut the deficit to two early in the third quarter before the visitors pulled away for good, outscoring the hosts 18-9 in the third quarter and 20-13 in the fourth.

Conlan also led Frewsburg (11-8, 8-4) with 13 rebounds while Brad Nelson had 12 points. Dylan Pearson grabbed six rebounds, Aaron Hair had two steals, Tyler Marchincin had two steals and Nolan Brink handed out four assists.

David Peterson led the Cougars (7-12, 3-9) with 11 points to go along with three assists and three steals. Connor Crabtree added 9 points and six rebounds.

UNDEFEATED IN LEAGUE

SHERMAN — Tanner Ramsey had 12 points and Kameron Ayers added 7 points in a 39-9 first half as Sherman pulled away from Brocton for a 59-34 CCAA Division 2 West win.

Ramsey finished with a game-high 26 points to go along with three steals for the Wildcats (15-5, 12-0), who completed a perfect league season. Jared Gleason added 8 points, 12 rebounds and four assists while John Swabik had six rebounds and three steals.

Hunter Rizzo hit four 3-pointers to lead the Bulldogs (1-17, 0-12) with 12 points while Riley Rivera added 10 points. Charles Rexford grabbed six rebounds and Caleb Chelton grabbed five while Gabe Morello handed out four assists.

POWER SALAMANCA

SALAMANCA — Ira John and Hercules Rasha led the way as Salamanca prevailed over Pine Valley, 70-48, in non-league action.

John scored 12 points and Rasha added 10 points in a 34-16 first half for the Warriors (7-12, 2-8 CCAA Division 1 East).

Rasha wound up with 18 points and John had 17 for Salamanca, which assisted on 24 of 28 made field goals. Braden Siebert led with eight assists and Isaac Brown had seven. Rasha grabbed 12 rebounds in the win.

Dakota Loop had 14 points, Trent Mihalko scored 12 points and Zach Mansfield had 11 for the Panthers (8-11, 5-5 CCAA Division 2 East).

HOLD OFF DRAGONS

DUNKIRK — Dunkirk’s seniors went out in style.

The Marauders defeated Maple Grove, 69-66, in a thrilling conclusion to the CCAA Division 1 West season.

Tyrese Kristan-Johnson finished with a game-high 22 points, along with six rebounds while Devaun Farnham-DeJesus finished with 19 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds for Dunkirk (13-6, 10-2).

Maple Grove (8-11, 4-8) was led by Truman Purslow with 18 points, 12 rebounds and four blocked shots. Pete Auer added 16 points while Carson Crist had 12.

BARIBEAU

SHINES DEFENSIVELY

WESTFIELD — Andrew Baribeau had himself a day not only producing in the paint, but also holding down the fort on defense with eight blocked shots in Westfield’s 51-50 victory over Clymer (8-12, 3-9) in CCAA Division 2 West action.

Baribeau finished the evening with team highs in points and rebounds with 17 and 10. Michael Johnson followed suit with 10 points and four assists, Shawn Horr dropped 10 and Nathan Culbreth — now back from injury (tailbone) — had 7 points, five rebounds and two assists respectively in the win.
