Big Fourth Quarter Sends Maple Grove Past Olean

Led by Courtney Hemminger and Riley Caskey, Maple Grove used a fourth-quarter run to subdue Olean, 59-46 in Division 1 West game.

Hemminger hit two 3-points and Caskey also added six points as the Lady Red Dragons went on a 17-4 run to close out the game and improve their record to 11-6 overall and 5-4 in the league.

Hemminger wound up with 18 points, Caskey and Bree Hill added 14 apiece and Marissa Schuppenhauer had 11.

Sophia Aiello netted 14 points and Justine Brooks chipped in12 to lead Olean.

PANAMA CLINCHES AT LEAST

A TIE FOR DIVISION 2 WEST TITLE

PANAMA — Panama (8-0, 15-1) clinched at least a share of Division 2 West girls title by downing Frewsburg, 67-38.

Natalie Angeletti and Kylie Schnars sparked the opening-half fireworks for the Lady Panthers by scoring 13 and 10 points respectively to give the Lady Panthers a 32-22 lead.

Angeletti finished with 26 points and brought down 13 rebounds while Schnars ended up with 14 points and Maci Johnson had 11. Schnars also had 10 rebounds.

Gabby Iuculano paced the Bears with 12 points.

SANDS, GRATTO LEAD WAY

SHERMAN — Carrie Sands scored 20 points and MacKenzie Gratto scored 11 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead Sherman to a 57-36 Division 2 West victory over Clymer.

Zoey Charrette added 14 points, and Hannah Murdock and Maggie each had four steals for the Lady Wildcats (12-7, 7-2), who led, 29-11, at halftime.

Sydney Beal had 11 points, MacKenzie Blakeslee had seven rebounds and five steals, and Ashley Covey collected three assists for the Lady Pirates (9-8, 3-5).

DEMARCO SHINES FOR WESTFIELD

WESTFIELD — It was Senior Night for the Westfield-Brocton Lady Wolverines, but Sophia DeMarco stole the show. The junior forward powered a 21-3 fourth-quarter run with 12 points as the Lady Wolverines defeated the Cassadaga Valley Lady Cougars, 50-39, in a CCAA West 2 game.

DeMarco wound up with a triple-double, scoring 22 points after a slow start, grabbing 17 rebounds and making 10 steals. Her two free throws gave Westfield (6-11, 2-6) a 32-30 lead with 6:05 remaining, an advantage it would never relinquish.

Kaylee Pattyson had 12 points and nine rebounds, and Brooke Repine had eight points, seven rebounds and four steals for the Lady Cougars. … Laura Johnson made six steals for Westfield, while Susie Wolfe dished out six assists.

T’BIRDS ROLL

MAYVILLE — Chautauqua Lake came out red hot in the first quarter by hitting 10-of-13 shots from the floor and went on to record a 64-33 win over Falconer in Division 1 West girls basketball Monday night.

Katelyn Fardink led the way with 11 of her 16 points in the first eight minutes as the Thunderbirds took a commanding 39-7 lead to improve their record to 12-6 overall and 8-2 in the league.

Emily Phelps tossed in 11 points and Jesse Zenns added10 in the victory while Lex Jacobson had 12 assists. Zenns had nine rebounds and Abbie Henry added six.

Falconer (0-10, 4-14) was led by Chelsea Vincent with 11 points, six rebounds and four steals.
