CLYMER — Julio Torres’ putback with 2.4 seconds remaining gave Westfield a 53-51 come-from-behind victory over Clymer in CCAA Division 2 West action.

The Wolverines led by six with under a minute remaining, but a pair of 3-pointers from the Pirates’ Corey Neckers tied the game at 51.

Torres then missed a 16-foot jump shot, but grabbed his own rebound and scored to give the Wolverines (7-4, 3-2) a two-point lead.

Clymer (5-7, 1-5) was then forced to go the length of the floor, but was unable to attempt a tying shot.

The Pirates led by seven entering the fourth quarter and expanded their lead to 10 with six minutes remaining, but Westfield stormed back thanks to 12 points, including three 3-pointers, in the period from Evan Hauser.

“We talked about knocking them off their spots because they are a big-time 3-point-shooting team,” Clymer coach Dan White said. “We didn’t get out and do that in the last quarter. That’s been how the season has gone for us.”

Colby Bills had 15 points and nine rebounds while Hauser also scored 15 points and Brock Schuster grabbed seven rebounds. Shawn Horr had four steals and five assists in the win.

Zavon Overton led the Pirates with 14 points and three steals while Dustin Neckers grabbed eight rebounds and Lucas Beckerink handed out five assists.
