Cosby Erupts For 42 In JCC Debut
YOUNGWOOD, Pa. — The second-semester return of Terrance Cosby has signaled good things to come for Jamestown Community College men’s basketball, as the sophomore forward finished with 42 points and 14 rebounds in a 112-84 win over Westmoreland County CC in NJCAA Division II play on Wednesday evening.
“Terrence had a chance to play his first game for us. He did what he was supposed to do inside the system, and he was able to catch a lot of easy buckets at the end of the press,” said Jayhawks coach George Sisson. “It’s been almost two years since he played a game and he’s a transfer to us … so obviously we are excited about his first game and it was a terrific start.”
Jamestown CC (6-8, 0-5) was able to break out to a 25-point lead at the eight minute mark of the first half and went on to hold off attempted charges by the Wolfpack (5-9, 3-2). Chris Robson added to the offensive output with 12 points on four 3-pointers, while Averi Parker added 20 points in the win.
The Jayhawks were able to come out in stride despite suffering from back-to-back cancellations in their previous two scheduled games, and carried a 57-34 lead into halftime.
“It was spurred on by Robson, Parker and Cosby, but they were all recipients of us sharing the ball,” Sisson said of the first-half lead.
The Jayhawks will now have to wait until Sunday Jan. 21 to return to the hardwood on the road against Lorain County CC.
