Welcoming A Former Tiger

Members of the Jamestown-area chapter of the Detroit Tigers Fan Club welcomed former Tigers’ pitcher Fred Scherman for lunch at the Lakewood home of Greg Peterson on Wednesday. Scherman, seated center, was the left-handed ace of Detroit’s bullpen in the early 1970s, highlighted by earning 12 saves for the American League East champions in 1972 and setting the club record for appearances with 69 in 1971.
