The Jamestown High School football team was well-represented on the Section VI Class AA all-league teams, highlighted by three players who made the first team.

First-team honorees were Noah Turzillo, Andrew Pumford and Manhattan King.

Turzillo captained an offensive line that averaged 162 rushing yards per game during his senior season, while Pumford finished his senior year with 378 yards receiving and four touchdowns, while also rushing and throwing for a score. On defense, he recorded 62 total tackles, intercepted two passes and broke up 17 passes.

Turzillo, Jamestown’s other senior captain, amassed a team-high 93 tackles to go along with 17 tackles for loss, 15 hurries and 6¢ sacks.

King was a force for Jamestown’s defensive line in his final year in Red and Green, compiling 77 total tackles, 19 for a loss, to go with seven sacks and 21 hurries.

Second-Team offensive choices for the Red Raiders include freshman running back Savon VanSickle, who ended the year with a team-high 627 yards on the ground and nine touchdowns, catching seven balls for 173 yards and two scores and adding 65 total tackles with 2.5 sacks on defense.

The freshman made his mark in a big way during a 53-52 double-overtime win over Clarence in Week 8. Despite suffering an injury early in the fourth quarter, VanSickle finished with 252 yards and four touchdowns.

Joining VanSickle on the Second Team offense is kicker Jayden Schultz, who ended his junior season with 23 extra points and five field goals, including a season-long 33-yard boot to tie the Red Raiders against Clarence. Schultz had quite the game that night, as he kept his team alive once again at the start of the first overtime, hitting a 32-yarder and allowing the Red Raider defense to make a stop before quarterback Drew Boggs and Pumford were able to connect on the game-tying touchdown and game-winning two-point conversion to seal the memorable win.

Schultz also booted 30 punts, including a long of 57 and had 10 of them land inside the 20-yard line.

Leading the way on the Second Team defense is Kanin Tanner, whose campaign included 62 total tackles, 14 for a loss, with two sacks and 15 hurries. Tanner also caught four passes for 29 yards. Joining Tanner on the Second Team Defense is junior Gavin Bowen.

During his impressive year at linebacker, Bowen finished with 39 total tackles, four for losses, with two sacks and one hurry while notching an interception and a forcing a fumble.

Rounding out the selections for the Red Raiders are Honorable Mention choices Taige White, Peyton Olson and Francisco Rodriguez.

Selected as an offensive lineman, White also made an impact defensively where he recorded 64 tackles, including 12 for loss. Rodriguez, meanwhile, finished his junior campaign with 531 rushing yards and seven scores to go along with 15 catches for 265 yards and two touchdowns.

Olson’s junior campaign included 53 total tackles with five for losses and one sack with six hurries.
