Carlson Named To Second Team

Maple Grove Senior Joined By Two Teammates With All-State?Recognition; Frewsburg Has Two

Although their final season at Maple Grove came up short of their ultimate goal, a pair of Red Dragons seniors were named to Class C all-state teams by the New York State Coaches Organization for Girls Sports and New York State Sportswriters Association on Sunday.

Senior forward Adri Carlson was named to the Class C Second Team after scoring 32 goals to go along with 12 assists this past season. Senior goalkeeper Sky Tarapacki was named to the Class C Fifth Team after making 109 saves and allowing just eight goals against this fall. Junior teammate Clare Crossley was named to the Class C Third Team after registering 16 goals and 15 assists from her midfield position prior to a late-season leg injury.

Frewsburg and Ellicottville each had a pair of players recognized on the Class D all-state teams.

Bears junior midfielder Gabby Iuculano was named to the Class D Third Team after putting up 18 goals and 14 assists while senior teammate Maddy Sohl was named to the Class D Fourth Team after notching 22 goals and six assists from her forward spot.

Eagles senior forward Evie Cortez was named to the Class D Third Team after registering 12 goals and two assists while senior teammate Kourtney Robinson was named to the Class D Fourth Team for anchoring Ellicottville’s defense.

Allegany-Limestone sophomore midfielder Molly McClelland was named the Class C Player of the Year after leading the Gators to their second state championship in program history. McClelland, who had 14 goals and 22 assists on the season, was joined on the Class C First Team by Gators sophomore forward Alyssa Spring, who had 43 goals and eight assists. Allegany-Limestone coach Dale MacArthur was named the Class C Coach of the Year while Gators senior defender Anna Seamon was named to the Fourth Team and senior defender Brianna Kellner was named to the Fifth Team.

Also for other local Class C schools, St. Mary’s sophomore Skylar Baun was named to the Second Team while Holland senior Karolyn Schmidt and St. Mary’s sophomore Samantha Carlson were named to the Fourth Team.

In Class D, North Collins senior Emma Kron was named to the Second Team, North Collins senior Rebecca Cyrek was named to the Third Team and Franklinville senior Shannon Brown was named to the Fourth Team. Section III Poland senior goalkeeper Claire Lepper was named the Player of the Year while Section V Wheatland-Chili’s Gary Ward was named the Coach of the Year.

In Class AA, Williamsville North senior Maya Palmer and Clarence junior Cassandra Bykowicz were named to the First Team; Clarence junior Emma Faso was named to the Second Team; Niagara-Wheatfield freshman Erin Weir was named to the Fourth Team; Orchard Park senior Alyssa Lutz and Clarence junior Megan McCraith were named to the Fifth Team; and Frontier junior Alyssa Lorka and Williamsville North senior Samantha Diamond were named to the Sixth Team. Section I Arlington senior Molly Feighan and St. Anthony’s junior Brianna Passaro were named co-Players of the Year while Section III Baldwinsville’s Kathy Morse and St. Anthony’s Sue Alber were named co-Coaches of the Year.

In Class A, Williamsville East senior Tess Ford was named to the Second Team; Grand Island junior Alexa Chiarenza and Pioneer senior Meghan Root were named to the Third Team; Grand Island senior Grace Stranahan and Williamsville East freshman Bella Buscaglia were named to the Fourth Team; Maryvale senior Lexi Aquilino was named to the Fifth Team; and Grand Island senior Sarah Bykowicz was named to the Sixth Team. Section XI Islip senior Hannah Franco was the Player of the Year while Section I Pearl River’s Tim Peabody and Section V Spencerport’s Jamie Schneider shared the Coach of the Year honor.

Newfane senior Emily Foltz was named to the Class B First Team; Newfane senior Kayleigh Daniels and Wilson senior Emily Kelly were named to the Second Team; Tonawanda senior Hope Balling was named to the Fourth Team; and Olean junior Calista Heister was named to the Fifth Team. Section V Aquinas junior Alana Piano was named the Player of the Year while Section III Westhill’s Lisa Eipp and Aquinas’ Adam Schwartz were named co-Coaches of the Year.
