Xpress Lose Third Straight, 2-1, In Wooster

WOOSTER, Ohio — The Southern Tier Xpress went 0 for 5 on the power play and managed just 20 shots on goal for the game in a 2-1 loss to the Wooster Oilers on Sunday at the Alice Noble Ice Arena.

The Xpress, who have now lost three straight games, tied the game at 1-all in the second period when Calvin Tonzi scored his second of the season from Tristan Mock and Dominic Cappella at the 3:34 mark.

Cole Barney’s power-play goal from Grant Dickinson and Daniel Critzer just over three minutes later would wind up being the game-winner for the Oilers.

Wooster took a 1-0 lead in the first period as Dickinson scored from former Xpress forward Matthew Crosby and Matthew Kesto on the power play.

Ryan Pascarella made 26 saves in net for Southern Tier while Michael Hubbard made 19 saves for the Oilers.

The Xpress return to action next weekend with Friday and Saturday night home games against the Toledo Cherokee at Northwest Arena.
