Stockwell Shines Again On Second Day At ECICs

CLARENCE — Allison Stockwell won a pair of events at the Erie County Interscholastic Conference Class AA Swimming & Diving Championships on Saturday at Clarence High School.

She did so in an impressive fashion.

The Jamestown High School standout won the 50-yard freestyle in a school-record time of 24.53, which was also a state-qualifying time. Stockwell also had a state-qualifying time when she claimed the 100-yard backstroke in 59.38.

As a team, the Lady Red Raiders finished 10th. In their other results from the ECICs, the 200-yard medley relay unit of Stockwell, Emily Spitz, Grace Osborne and Anna Burt finished eighth with a time of 1:57.75.

Spitz was 11th in the 200-yard freestyle (2:08.26) and in the same spot in the 500-yard freestyle (5.38.68). Sophia Simons came in 16th in the 500-yard freestyle (6:02.33).

In the 200-yard freestyle relay, a personal best 1:45.30 was recorded by Osborne, Burt, Sarah Russo and Stockwell, which was good for fifth place. The B relay, comprised of Makenna Graham, Jones, Simons and Spitz, posted a time of 1:55.19.

Osborne was 16th in the 200-yard individual medley (2:30.25) and 13th in the 100-yard butterfly (1:06.47).

The state meet will be held at Ithaca College on Nov. 17-18.
