The Jamestown (18U) Lakers defeated the Niagara Junior Purple Eagles, 5-2, to pick up their first league win of the season in recent Western New York Amateur Hockey League action.

Niagara jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when Aidan DeCastro scored a power-play goal at the 9:25 mark in the first period. He was assisted by CJ Falcone and Anthony Coty.

The Lakers, however, came back in the second period with four unanswered goals. Blade Ellis netted the first goal with an assist from Jacob Gerace. It was Lakers assistant captains Darryn Capito and Joe Yaros who found the back of the net next. Capito’s goal was unassisted and Yaros scored off a pass from Jackson Knupp. The Lakers’ last goal of the period came from Jarod Anderson as Gerace and Ellis both assisted on the play.

The Purple Eagles scored one more goal with 2:19 remaining, but the Lakers answered that goal less than one minute later as Capito picked up his second tally of the game, this time with help from Brock Foster.
