Lady Red Dragons Still Unbeaten In Volleyball

Maple Grove (7-0, 2-0) claimed a South Division volleyball win over host Southwestern (3-4, 1-2), 25-23, 25-20, 25-13.

The winners were led by Maddy Russo with one ace, 13 kills, five digs; Maddie Welsh with seven kills and five blocks; Olivia Pembridge with five aces, 22 assists and three kills; Alyssa Steen with four aces and 12 assists; Emma Wirsen with 15 digs; and Bre Hill with 12 kills.

Southwestern was paced by two aces, a kill and 18 digs from Vivian King. Abby Manelick adding one ace, six kills and six digs; and Angela Lunz had one kill, 10 digs and 17 assists.

Southwestern won the jayvee contest, 2-1.


SHERMAN — Chautauqua Lake moved to 2-1 in the South Division and 2-1 overall with a 25-13, 25-19, 25-10 volleyball win over Sherman (1-3, 0-3) behind seven kills and an ace from Sophie Woodis.

Also for the winners Mollie Meadows added four aces, three digs, and 11 assists; Maddy Harle had four kills, two aces and 10 assists; and Josi Simora added three kills and two blocks.

Sherman was led by Sofia Rater with seven assists and one ace while Maggie Meyers added three kills.


PANAMA — Panama is now 5-0 overall and 3-0 in the South Division thanks to a 25-22, 25-18, 25-14 win over visiting Clymer (1-1) courtesy of a two-kill, 29-assist, four-dig, 15-point, four-ace performance by Quinn Payne.

Also for the winners, Madalyn Bowen had 16 kills, one assist and three digs; Natalie Angeletti collected nine kills, three digs and six points; Kylie Schnars had three kills and six blocks; and Elle Angeletti had 10 points, one ace and two digs.

For Clymer Nasia Duryee had three kills, three blocks and 11 digs; Hannah King had three kills, four blocks and five digs; Ashley Covey chipped in five digs and three points; and Sydney Beale had four assists, three points and one ace.

Panama also claimed the jayvee match.


Lancaster (1-1) downed host Jamestown (1-4, 0-3), 25-11, 25-5, 25-9, in Erie County Interscholastic Conference Division I volleyball on Wednesday.

Karleigh Haines led the Lady Red Raiders with five kills and three blocks while Jenna Starkweather had 10 assists.

Jamestown, which also fell in the jayvee contest,will host Frontier on Friday at home.
