Jamestown Jets Seek New Swimmers

The Jamestown Jets began their 86th season as Jamestown’s leading competitive swim program Tuesday. The league-champion Jets are locally based and comprised of over 90 swimmers from 13 school districts in Chautauqua County and Pennsylvania. Swimmers range from first time on a swim team to state and national qualifiers. The Jets invite all swimmers 5-18 years of age who are able to swim a length of the pool front crawl and backstroke to come and try the Jets for two weeks with no commitment. All swimmers who want to have fun and race are encouraged to try out.

The team practices Monday through Friday with five times available for each age group. All swimmers are expected to participate in a minimum of two practices per week.

The Jets compete in the Western PA YMCA Swim League and have approximately 10 league meets per season, plus championships. All league meet and postseason meet fees are included in the registration fee. Meets are held from late October through mid-March at home and away locations. Emphasis will be on stroke technique, conditioning and endurance. Other fun activities are scheduled throughout the season. Scholarships and multiple swimmer discounts are available.
