Diaz Goal Holds Up, Trojans Edge Olean

OLEAN — Esteban Diaz scored the lone goal as Southwestern downed Olean in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus West Division boys soccer action Monday night.

Diaz tallied an unassisted goal at 1:59 of the first half and that stood up the rest of the way.

Brandon Fardink of Southwestern and Jack Dwaileebe of Olean each made two saves.

Eli Hendrix of Olean missed a chance of getting the tying goal when his shot bounced off the inside of the far post just about a minute after Southwestern had scored.

DRAGONS PREVAIL

Caleb Foley and Tristan Spillane combined for the only goal as host Maple Grove (4-2, 7-2) edged Fredonia, 1-0, in the West Division.

Foley took a pass from Spillane and scored at 11 minutes of the first half for the lone score of a well-played soccer match.

Sam Cummings earned the shutout with 10 saves for the Red Dragons.

CARDINALS FALL

RANDOLPH — Allegany-Limestone remained undefeated at 6-0 by taking care of Randolph (1-5, 2-6), 3-0, in East Division action.

Sam Francis had the only goal in the first half at six minutes for Allegany-Limestone from Dylan Talbot.

Then in the second half, Collin Strade scored from Dylan Talbot at 12 minutes and Sam Flanders tallied from Strade with eight minutes left in the game.

Conner Golley made three saves for A-L while Jacob Buklich was the goalie for Randolph and recorded 11 stops.
