CLRA Shines At Head Of Cuyahoga

Chautauqua Lake Rowing masters attended the Head of the Cuyahoga regatta in Cleveland last weekend. Two different boat crews competed in the 5,000-meter race with a total rowing distance of 11.4K to complete the out and back from start to finish. Compared to rainy and stormy weather the last two years, the weather was ideal for racing this year. The morning race for CLRA was the mixed rec 8+, consisting of coxswain Alexis Barron, Charlie McChesney, Jan Odrzywolski, Jim Odrzywolski, Mickey Sorenson, Doreen Loll, Maureen Mack, Kathleen McCarthy and Diana Meckley. The crew finished ninth of 12 boats. However, with a completion time of 21 minutes, 12 seconds, it was an improvement of more than one minute over its best practice times. The second crew on the water was the mixed rec 4+. This crew included Alexis Barron, Ali Odrzywolski, Paul Leachko, Paul Boger and Stephanie Hall. They raced to a finish in 21 minutes, 40 seconds, an outstanding four minutes under the next competitor’s boat. They won a gold medal for their efforts.
