Niko Pannes had three hits at the plate with four RBIs in Southwestern’s 17-4 Class B2 quarterfinal win over Olmsted. He also was the winning pitcher and worked the contest’s first five innings. In the Trojans’ 11-1 non-league win over Frewsburg on Monday, Pannes combined on a four-hitter with Mitch Pascarella and Luke Heil.

Cassadaga Valley

Alyssa Hahn tossed a complete-game gem in the circle to help send Cassadaga Valley to a 23-1 Class C1 quarterfinal victory over Allegany-Limestone on Thursday. Hahn struck out 13 Lady Gators and only surrendered two hits. At the plate, she ripped three hits, including a double.

Clymer/Sherman/Panama

Justin Svetz of Clymer/Sherman/Panama won the CCAA boys pentathlon at Southwestern Central School with 2,852 points Saturday. Svetz posted a time of 17.10 in the 110-meter hurdles, a 5-9§ in the high jump, a 40-7 in the shot put, a 5:00.80 in the 1,500 meters and a 17-11§ in the long jump for his winning total.

Bailey Gostomski

Bailey Gostomski was a triple winner at the Super 8 Meet of Champions in Salamanca on Friday. She took the top spot in the 1,500 meters (5:01.58), the 3,000 meters (10:53.01) and the triple jump (33-4) for Cattaraugus-Little Valley.

Chautauqua Lake/Westfield

Kole Maytum came ever so close to extending his golf season to the state’s biggest stage next month, but he came up just short Monday. The Chautauqua Lake junior was tied after 27 holes with freshman Matt Jeffe of East Aurora/Holland at the Section VI state qualifier at Gowanda Country Club but Jeffe defeated Maytum in a sudden-death playoff for the final qualifying spot on the sectional team. Then on Tuesday, Maytum took home medalist honors with a 39 to help send Chautauqua Lake/Westfield to a 36-19 Division 2 victory over Cassadaga Valley.

Fredonia

Neil Gens of Fredonia captured the CCAA singles crown Friday by virtue of a 7-5, 6-3 victory over teammate Matt Burr. Gens advanced to the title match by virtue of a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Filip Murawski of Olean. Gens beat Maple Grove’s Porter DeMink in the Round of 16, 6-0 and 6-2, before topping Frewsburg’s Tyler Marchincin in the quarterfinals, 6-0 and 6-1.
