Barber Seeded Third For Today’s 400-Meter Semifinals

HAMBURG – A third-place finish from Naciela Barber in the preliminary stages of the girls 400-meter dash highlighted Jamestown’s performance on day one of the Erie County Interscholastic Conference Track and Field Championships at Hamburg Central School.

Barber’s clocking of 1:00.31 was plenty fast enough to qualify for the semifinals today on day two, as the top 16 times overall from preliminaries advance. The top eight relay times qualified for the finals as well.

Along with Barber, the Lady Red Raiders’ 400-meter relay team of Zakya Slaughter, Orianne Simon, Allie Stockwell and Taylor Brightman had the fifth quickest prelim time of 51.70.

Stockwell punched her ticket to the 200-meter dash semifinals with the 14th quickest prelim time of 27.02.

On the boys side, Grant Moore was the top Jamestown finisher and he qualified for the 400-meter hurdle semifinals with a prelim time of 1:04.45.

Other girls results for Jamestown included: Chelsy Scott placing 24th in the 100-meter hurdle prelims (18.12), Giovanna Calamunci finishing 27th in the 100-meter hurdle prelims (18.25), Slaughter placing 24th in the 100-meter dash prelims (13.74), Rachel Johnson coming in 38th in the 800-meter run finals (2:39.85), Scott placing 22nd in the 400-meter hurdle prelims (1:14.88), Olivia Reinhardt finishing 14th in the discus throw finals (92-02), Morgan Tracy finishing 28th in the girls discus throw finals (79-01) and Calamunci ending up 18th in the long jump finals (14-04.75).

Other boys results consisted of: Gavin Bowen finishing 29th in the 110-meter hurdle prelims (19.02), Avante Hicks finishing 31st in the 110-meter hurdle prelims (19.56), Jaidyn Conyer placing 22nd in the 800-meter run finals (2:11.85), Harrison Monfort placing 19th in the 400-meter dash prelims (54.09), Alexander Reynolds coming in 38th in the 3,200-meter run finals (11:53.35), Austin Wetherby finishing 28th in the long jump finals (16-07.50), Bowen finishing 29th in the long jump finals (16-04) and Jeremy Bush placing 14th in the shot put finals (43-00).

In addition, the 400-meter relay team of Bowen, Wetherby, Kobe Williams and Steven Wofford was 21st with a prelim time of 48.75.

Williamsville North’s Chloe Hurrell is the current leader through three events in the girls outdoor pentathlon with 1,565 points thanks to her first-place time of 16.94 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles, her second-place height of 1.43 meters in the high jump and her second-best distance of 8.29 meters in the shot put.

Williamsville East’s Jameson Reid is the leader through three events in the boys outdoor pentathlon with 1,678 points thanks to his third-place time of 16.99 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles, his fourth-best distance of 9.70 meters in the shot put and his top height of 1.75 meters in the high jump.
