Baseball Showcase Is April 28-29 At Diethrick Park

FALCONER — The Chautauqua County Umpires Association and Falconer Central School are sponsoring the 10th annual High School Baseball Showcase on April 28-29 at Diethrick Park.

This event features 12 Chautauqua and Cattaraugus county high school teams in a schedule of six games over a two-day period, according to Paul Lombardo, Chautauqua County Umpires Association representative..

The schedule begins on Friday at 4:30 p.m. with Cassadaga Valley meeting Panama. Falconer will take on Southwestern at 7:30 p.m.

Action resumes at 10 a.m. Saturday when Brocton faces Randolph followed at 1 p.m. with Pine Valley meeting Clymer. Maple Grove clashes with Chautauqua Lake at 4 p.m. and Sherman and Westfield meet at 7 p.m.

The cost is $1 for students and senior citizens and $2 for adults to help Falconer baseball and softball and add to the Chautauqua County Umpires Scholarship fund.

Section VI or any other complimentary passes will not be honored for this event.

The Showcase gives local high school players an opportunity to play in a professional baseball stadium and, hopefully, be noticed by a college baseball coach.
