SYRACUSE — The Westfield/Ripley/Chautauqua Lake youth wrestling team traveled to the New York Wrestling Association for Youth State Tournament at Onondaga Community College last weekend and ended putting together quite the showing.

Among the 128 teams that competed in the event, WRCL ended up 15th, highlighted by Tayler Pinzok, who led the way after she was crowned a state champion in the girls 8-and-under 50-pound weight class. Caylee Pinzok recorded a third-place finish in the girls 8-and-under 60-pound weight class.

Jordan Joslyn ended up finishing second in the Division 3 (9-10 year old) 65-pound weight class, teammate Keith Miller was second in the Division 3 (9-10 year old) 105-pound weight class and Mason Maring came away third in the Division 3 (9-10 year old) 125-pound weight class.

In addition, Jordin Eddy placed fifth at 50 pounds in Division 1 (6 and under) and Bryce Rowe was fourth at 162 pounds in Division 6 (varsity level).

“It was awesome,” WRCL coach Matt Eddy said. “Being that this was the very first year that WRCL was created, we brought in all new kids and all new coaches, and to be able to go to that state level and perform that well with a first-year team, I thought it was awesome.”
