Bonnies’ Adams Earns District II Honors

St. Bonaventure junior point guard Jaylen Adams was named to the U.S. Basketball Writers Association All-District II team, the association announced Tuesday.

District II includes teams in the states of New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania and West Virginia as well as the District of Columbia. In addition to Adams, the District II team includes Jalen Brunson (Villanova), Jevon Carter (West Virginia), Angel Delgado (Seton Hall), Josh Hart (Villanova), Kris Jenkins (Villanova), Tim Kempton (Lehigh), Tyler Lydon (Syracuse), Justin Robinson (Monmouth) and Michael Young (Pittsburgh).

Adams is the second-leading scorer in the Atlantic 10 Conference at 20.8 points per game. He also leads the A-10 and ranks seventh nationally in assists with 185 total, or 6.6 per game. The Baltimore, Maryland native ranks second in the A-10 and 22nd nationally in steals (2.2). He has made 72 3-pointers and his 195 free throws so far this year is a school record.

The USBWA’s All-District Teams are selected by a national membership of 900-plus. For each of the nine geographic districts, 10 players are selected as well as a player and coach of the year. The USBWA has selected All-District Teams since the 1956-57 season, its founding year.

Adams has led St. Bonaventure to a 19-11 season and a fifth-place finish in the Atlantic 10. Over his three seasons, the Bonnies have won 59 games.

The Bonnies will begin play in the A-10 Championship Tournament, which is being held at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, on Thursday against the winner of today’s first round game between UMass and Saint Joseph’s. The game will tip-off at 2:30 and will air on NBC Sports Network.
