Xpress Fall To Wolves, 5-2
BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — West Michigan scored three first-period goals on its way to a 5-2 victory over Southern Tier in a NA3HL game Sunday.
Dakota Ulmer, who ended up being the game’s first star, tallied two goals in the opening period, while Daniil Demidov recorded the third. Assists in that period went to Thomas Harrison, Brett Siewertsen, Andrew Michalowski, Lucas Duckstein and Blake Siewertsen.
The Xpress, who defeated the Wolves on Saturday, 2-1, crept close in the second period, courtesy of goals by Tommy Muecke and Tristan Mock. Jacob St. Andre and Joey Gerace assisted on Muecke’s goal, while Cameron Pries and Luke Grossman were credited with helpers on Mock’s tally.
The Wolves put the game away in the third period, however, with a goal apiece from Collin Rewerts and Sean Lake. Harrison and Bear Ross assisted on Rewerts’ goal. Rewerts and Michalowski had assists on Lake’s goal.
Brian Thomas made 24 saves for West Michigan (14-22-4). Harrison Vangello made 33 stops for Southern Tier (13-23-4).
The Xpress are back in action at 11 a.m. Thursday against the Lockport Express at Northwest Arena.
