Community Support Needed To Bring Preseason Game To Northwest Arena

With the support of the local community, Jamestown could host a 2017 NHL preseason game.

Once again Kraft Heinz, the NHL, the NHLPA and NBC Sports is hosting the Kraft Hockeyville USA contest to take an exhibition game and $150,000 of arena upgrades to a community ice rink somewhere in the United States.

With enough nominations and votes, Northwest Arena in Jamestown could be that rink.

To nominate Jamestown, log on to www.krafthockeyville.com. Once there, select “Find My Rink” and register. After registration, you’ll be given the opportunity to select Northwest Arena and cast your vote. After selecting the arena, write a brief entry on why Jamestown deserves the title of Kraft Hockeyville USA 2017. You can even add a photo of your favorite Northwest Arena memory. Then submit your nomination.

The prizes for Kraft Hockeyville are divided up into four categories. The Grand Prize Winner receives $150,000 in arena upgrades and the opportunity to host a 2017-18 NHL preseason game. There are also nine Runner-Up slots with first Runner-Up winning $75,000 in arena upgrades, two First-Place Prizes winning $25,000 in arena upgrades, and six Second-Place Prizes winning $10,000 in arena upgrades. The contest ends at 11:59 p.m. on March 10. The community with the most nominations wins.

Marquette, Michigan was the winner of last year’s Kraft Hockeyville USA contest and was able to host a preseason game between the Buffalo Sabres and Carolina Hurricanes. Visit www.krafthockeyville.com to see what $150,000 in upgrades can do to an arena and the smiles on the children meeting professional NHL players before the game.
