Panama Swim Team Wins Invitational At Lake Shore
LAKE SHORE — Led by Patrick Yuchnitz, the Panama swim team captured the 16th annual Jon Brockhurst Invitational at Lake Shore Central School on Saturday.
Yuchnitz was a member of the victorious 200 medley and 400 freestyle relay teams and also won the 100 freestyle as the Panthers finished with 296 points to edge Lancaster by two points.
The decisive event was the final one, the 400 freestyle relay. The team was comprised of Austin Strong, Justin Wiemer, Cole Manwaring and Yuchnitz, which shattered the school record by five seconds to seal the victory.
Joining Yuchnitz in the winning 200 medley relay were Manwaring, Joel Vollmer and Wiemer.
Other individual winners were Ryan Robinson of Lancaster in the 200 freestyle and the 500 freestyle; Jacob Michalski of Lancaster in the 100 butterfly; Jacob Maciejewski of Lancaster in the 100 breaststroke; Alex Headley of Lake Shore in the 50 freestyle and the 100 breastroke; Casey Rosinski and Adam D’Innocenzo in the diving relay; and Lancaster’s 200 freestyle relay of Owen George, Maciejewski, Robinson and Michalski.
Following are the team scores, after the one-two finish by Panama and Lancaster: Eden, 195; Lake Shore, 170; Cheektowaga, 157; Maryvale, 153; Tonawanda, 112; and Pioneer, 72.
